Metal packages

All packages and items that mainly consist of metal belong in metal recycling.

What should be sorted as metal?

Empty, clean and dry metal packages; tins, non-deposit beverage cans, metal lids, caps and closures, aluminium trays, foil and covers empty paint tins, non-pressurised aerosol cans, metal coffee capsules.

Also small metal household items, such as pots and pans, cutlery, scissors and tools, other small metal objects (nails, screws, fittings, etc.), aluminium tea light cups.

All metal objects: tins and drinking cans, corks, lids, tubes, foils, pots, frying pans, aluminium moulds, tools, nails, empty aerosols, aluminium lids from yogurt tubs and butter packets, tealight aluminium moulds, metal shells from outdoor candles etc.

Larger metal items that are too big to fit in the collection box, e.g. broken bikes, wheelbarrows, metal barrels, and metal furniture are brought to a waste reception station.

What is the common mistake?

Sometimes metal waste is contaminated with electrical and electronic scrap. This type of scrap is far better suited in its own category. Any packaging that contains residues of dangerous substances and pressurised packaging (e.g. paint, chemicals, oils, medicines, hairspray) must be taken hazardous waste collection at a waste reception station.

What happens to the metal?

Recycled metal is used, for example, in new metal packaging, bicycle frames, shovels and car parts. The quality of metal does not deteriorate in the recycling process, so it can be recycled againg and again.
