Waste containers in housing companies
Sorting waste correctly is good for the environment and can even reduce the housing company’s waste management costs. By using all the housing company’s waste containers, you do good to yourself, your local environment, and future generations.
These waste containers should be available in your housing company’s yard:
- Biowaste
- Mixed waste (Combustible waste)
- Paper
- Glass packages
- Metal packages
- Batteries
- Cardboard packages
- Plastic packages
Common questions from housing company residents
If you notice any problems with waste collection, please contact your housing company’s property manager or the chairperson of the board. They can then get in touch with us at Stormossen.
Stormossen is responsible for the collection and transportation of biowaste, packaging waste (metal, glass, plastic, and cardboard packaging), as well as batteries.
You can pick up paper bags for sorting bio-waste from several different locations. On this page, you will find all of Stormossen’s distribution points for bio-waste bags. Property managers can also collect larger quantities of paper bags from Stormossen’s waste reception station in Koivulahti to distribute within the housing company.
A basic fee (former eco-charge) is invoiced to households and holiday homes in the Stormossen region. The basic fee entitles you to a customer card that is needed when visiting our waste reception stations. You can order the customer card here.
The basic fee is used to finance, among other things, Stormossen’s ecopoints, waste reception stations, campaign collections and waste advisory services. Vaasa Region’s Waste Committee’s (Vaasan seudun jätelautakunta) approves the regional waste charges for basic fees.
Basic fee for housing companies, with 5 or more apartments is 17,16€/quarter (5,72 €/month/apartment). The prices include VAT (25,5%).
The basic fee is included in the housing maintenance fee.
Hazardous waste, electrical and electronic waste, discarded textiles, and large items must be taken to recycling centers. Every household in housing companies is entitled to a Stormossen customer card, which allows unlimited visits to the recycling centers. You can order a household customer card here.
Stormossen offers free sorting advice to housing company boards and residents. We also distribute sorting guides and leaflets with important information about sorting to residents in our service area. If you want to order sorting instructions or advice, please contact our customer service at info@stormossen.fi.
If sorting is not working in your housing company, this letter can be printed and sent to the residents.
A housing company customer card is required to take shared waste from housing companies — such as renovation waste or waste from cleaning common areas — to the waste reception stations. The card can be ordered via this link (in Finnish). Alternatively, you can also order a waste skip to be placed in the housing company’s yard from Revisol Vaasa.
Stormossen is responsible for the emptying of bio- and packaging waste as well as batteries. Stormossen also takes care of customer service and invoicing related to these transports. Therefore, please always notify us of any changes in the housing company boards or property managers by email to info@stormossen.fi or by phone at 010 320 7600.
