Proposed thesis topics
Currently, Stormossen has 6+1 self-service waste reception stations. Two of the stations are staffed on all days they are open, while four stations have staff present 1–2 days a week. The goal is for all waste reception stations to operate on a self-service basis.
In recent years, the focus at the waste reception stations has been on improving customer guidance and instruction regarding correct waste sorting. We want to continuously develop our operations to enhance the customer experience at the stations.
The main points of the thesis could be:
- Customer satisfaction at the current self-service stations
- Good and bad experiences from both customers and staff
- Development needs and future requirements
- Changing recycling, environmental, and safety requirements
Contact person: Waste Reception Stations’ Supervisor Tommi Talvitie tommi.talvitie@stormossen.fi or Chief Service Officer Timo Lehtola timo.lehtola@stormossen.fi.
One of Stormossen’s core tasks is collecting waste from various locations. These include, for example, ecopoints, regional collection points, points for leisure residents (holiday homes), and shared collection points. In addition, waste is collected from waste reception stations as well as municipal and private properties.
In spring 2027, the logistics will expand to cover mixed waste collection and sludge emptying.
The main points of the thesis could be:
- The current state of the logistics operations as a whole
- Overlaps and illogical transport routes
- Improvement proposals: reducing mileage and carbon footprint, as well as cost savings
- Key considerations as the logistics expand in 2027
Contact person: Circular Economy Manager Rasmus Hautala rasmus.hautala@stormossen.fi or Chief Service Officer Timo Lehtola timo.lehtola@stormossen.fi.
