Saturdays Open Year-Round at Self-Service Stations
The high visitor numbers at Stormossen’s self-service waste reception stations speak for themselves. Customers appreciate the flexibility of sorting their waste according to their own schedules. Therefore, the opening hours will be extended to include Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm year-round at the self-service stations in Malax, Vikby, Vörå, Maxmo and Oravais. Other opening hours are Monday to Friday from 7 am to 7 pm. The gates are opened with Stormossen’s customer card.
Self-service provides both freedom and responsibility for customers. The general rule is that most items can be taken to a waste reception station, except for medications, tires, and explosives. Please be meticulous with sorting and consider your own safety and that of others, especially when sorting hazardous waste and asbestos.
Keep these points in mind when visiting a waste reception station:
- Sort your waste at home beforehand. The Sorting Guide provides clear answers to sorting questions.
- Large quantities and heavy waste should be taken to Stormossen’s waste centre in Kvevlax.
- Hazardous waste at self-service stations should be left according to instructions through the opening in the container. Ensure that the contents are in their original packaging or clearly labelled with what the sealed package contains. Do not leave hazardous waste on the ground.
- Used tires should be taken to one of Finland’s tire recycling collection points.
- Old or unused medications should be taken to a pharmacy. Instructions for pharmaceutical waste can be found on Fimea’s website.
- For explosives, ammunition, or weapons, contact the police. Unused fireworks should be returned to the seller, or in unclear cases, you may also contact the police.
- The compactors for e.g. paper and cardboard packaging at the self-service stations have small openings for safety reasons. Flatten the waste before placing it in the compactor. Do not leave waste on the ground.
Stormossen thanks its customers for their good cooperation. Together, we make our local environment cleaner—one sorted waste at a time.
