Mikromossen closes but sorting continues

Mikromossen, the pop-up waste reception station which has been driving around the city center of Vaasa and nearby areas, has ceased operations. Stormossen thanks everyone who visited Mikromossen and diligently sorted their waste. However, the number of visitors has significantly decreased since Mikromossen’s launch in 2020.

Changes to the Waste Act in 2023 required housing companies with at least five apartments in Stormossen’s operating area to have their own waste containers on-site for packaging waste, paper, and batteries, in addition to mixed waste (combustible waste) and biowaste. As a result, many residents now have the opportunity to sort waste in their own yards. Other types of waste, such as small electronic waste, energy-saving lamps, LED lamps, and fluorescent tubes shorter than 25 cm, can also be taken for free and without any purchase obligation to stores that sell similar items. For private homeowners, there are ecopoints that accept the most common household waste types.

Sorting opportunities with Stormossen:

Stormossen offers a collection service. This means that waste can be collected from your home for a fee.

Waste can be taken for free to the mobile waste reception station, which operates on Saturdays in September and October.

The recycling mall Minimossen in Isolahti, Vaasa, also accepts waste or items in good condition for reuse.

Stormossen’s waste reception stations are open year-round as usual. Waste reception stations in Vikby, Vörå, Oravais, Maxmo, and Malax are open for self-service every weekday from 7 am to 7 pm.

Thank you for sorting!
